A community IP phone system that brings the benefits of free communication and added safety
What is the iPECS service?
The iPECS (IP phones) service allows free communication between residents of the estate, the security control room and the Home Owners’ Association office.

How does it work?
The iPECS service belongs to the Home Owners’ Association and forms part of their account. Each resident is then added to the iPECS service as the contact person for installation and fault-reporting.
An iPECS IP phone is installed in each home and can be used for communication between residents, the security control room and the HOA. It also provides the HOA with the capability to push messages to residents in the estate. No incoming calls can be received from outside the iPECS service.
Can I make external calls using the iPECS system?
As it is an internal intercom system, the iPECS system does not allow for calls to be made to anyone outside of the estate. Residents should apply for a separate voice line if they don’t have one already. This is for the residents’ own account and various calling plans are available from Telkom. A separate telephone would also be required.

How to apply for the service?
Residents cannot apply for the service through Telkom directly. This must be done through the Home Owners’ Association. The resident will then be added as a contact person and an appointment will be made for a technician to come and install the system.
How does installation work?
Residents will receive an SMS about setting up dates for installation of the iPECS service. Installation is done in two phases. At the first installation, the fibre technician installs fibre access into the home (if not already installed). At the second appointment, the iPECS technician installs the iPECS IP phone. The phone comes with a one-metre connecting cable.
